OUR STORY ...

Royal Mountain Ski Area is fast becoming one of the most progressive family ski areas in New York State.

Conveinently located in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains, Royal is less than one hour from Albany and Utica.

Since 1999, Royal Mountain has installed 3 new chair lifts which are capable of moving over 3,000 skiers per hour up the mountain. Yearly snow making improvements now enable us to cover over 95% of the ski area with snow.

This summer, more work was done on our gladed trails and we continue to upgrade our terrain park. Major improvements are done every summer, but snow making and grooming will always be the hallmark at Royal Mountain. "Corduroy Joe" Mulyca has received rave reviews by every ski writer in the Capital District for our grooming that is second to none!

C'mon-up and see why! Royal will be open weekends, holidays and holiday weeks.

ONGOING SNOW MAKING, GROOMING UPGRADES... (WE HAVE ADDED 20% MORE SNOW MAKING CAPABILITIES THIS SUMMER 2010...!!!)

Royal Mountain's three year plan to upgrade its snow making and grooming capabilities has been completed.

Phase one was an entire electrical upgrade. In order ot pump more water for snow making an additional power source was needed. Royal partnered with National Grid two years ago and got this accomplished.

Phase two was to dig a large pond in order to double the amount of water available for snow making. Increasing water accessibility to 10 million gallons. A new snow groomer was also purchased for "Corduroy Joe."

The final phase of the project was completed with the purchase of another snow making pump. These improvements will double our snow making efforts which will allow for earlier openings! Our ability to have all trails covered in a shorter time period will be greatly enhanced.

In Addition to Phase 1,2, and 3 Royal Mountain also purchased three new snow guns during this period. These upgrades support our belief that snow making and grooming are the two most important things we can do and allow us to not only raise the bar but to set the bar!
